From Fairways to Front Lawns
Three decades of better lawn care — now reimagined with robotics.
For more than 30 years, my working life has been spent outdoors, solving lawn and vegetation problems across southern England. Today, as the founder of Precision Lawn Robotics, I help homeowners in Somerset and Dorset enjoy flawless, low-maintenance lawns with Mammotion robotic mowers.

My story
My career in amenity horticulture began in 1992, working alongside my father-in-law John Bailey on his Complete Weed Control franchise. Those early years tackling Himalayan Balsam, Giant Hogweed, and Japanese Knotweed — including an unforgettable 80 km contract along the North West Ethylene Pipeline — gave me an education no textbook could match.
In 1996 I moved to Somerset and launched my own business, Weed Control South. What started treating footpaths for resurfacing contractors grew into golf course fairways, airfields, and a major contract with Midlands Electricity clearing 400 substation compounds. By the mid-2000s we were maintaining 40,000 substations across four regional electricity networks, with a team of 50.
In 2000 I gained my BASIS certification and joined the professional register of pesticide advisors — a commitment to the safe, responsible use of products that still shapes my work today.
17 years in lawn care
In 2009 I bought a GreenThumb Lawn Care franchise in Somerset, later expanding into Weston-super-Mare, Taunton, and Yeovil. At our peak we were caring for 5,500 lawns across Somerset and Dorset. After 17 years as a lawn care specialist, there isn’t a lawn situation I haven’t seen — or a lawn problem I can’t help you solve.
Why robotic mowing?
Robotic mowers are, quite honestly, the biggest step forward I’ve seen in my career. Frequent consistent cutting produces the healthiest, densest turf — and with Mammotion, that’s now possible without the time, noise, fuel, or cost of traditional mowing. That’s why this next chapter is dedicated entirely to Precision Lawn Robotics.
